 Vertex Thickness Generator v2025.5 is an editor tool that calculates per-vertex mesh thickness, inspired by the GDC 2011 talk by Colin Barre-Brisebois. It is designed for use in various rendering and simulation effects, such as translucent shaders, subsurface scattering, and soft-body simulations. The calculated thickness is represented as a grayscale value in the range [0, 1], where 0 indicates the minimal mesh thickness and 1 represents the maximum. The thickness is computed per-vertex and can be stored in any mesh vertex buffer, including uv0–uv7, normal, tangent, or vertex color.
