Polaris Highland - Low Poly Terrain Editor v3.3.9 is a low-poly mesh terrain editor designed for stylized games that do not use Unity Terrain. It generates and renders terrain as regular meshes with a faceted low-poly look, using a heightmap-driven workflow for speed and familiarity while delivering fully mesh-based results for stable performance. The tool offers a simple, multi-tile paint and stamp workflow: create terrain grids via the setup wizard, shape geometry and textures with stamps and splines, paint colors and textures with brushes, and populate the terrain with trees, grass, and props. Procedural and manual editing work together to allow rapid blocking of large areas and detailed hand refinement.
The terrain is fully mesh-based, providing stylized visuals with flexible shading options—from faceted low-poly to smooth or hybrid styles—and ensuring stable performance across platforms including mobile, desktop, and VR. It integrates seamlessly with standard mesh workflows and rendering pipelines, making it ideal for performance-sensitive, stylized projects where developers need full control over both visual style and runtime behavior.
Performance is prioritized from design: terrain geometry is generated with dynamic mesh density to maintain detail where needed and reduce overhead elsewhere. Vegetation and terrain are rendered efficiently using integrated level-of-detail and culling systems, ensuring consistent performance under typical workloads.
The package includes sample assets such as low-poly terrain, trees, grass textures, and rocks from Pinwheel Studio, environment structures and vehicles from Total Game Assets, and trees from Distant Lands. It is available in three editions—Summit, Highland (this edition), and Valley—offering progressively enhanced features. Users can upgrade from lower to higher editions at a reasonable fee without re-purchasing.
The editor supports scripting via a public API and includes a user guide. It is part of a broader ecosystem of terrain and shader tools, including Poseidon (low-poly water shader), Jupiter (stylized animated sky and day-night cycle), Vista (graph-based terrain and Unity terrain generator), Texture Graph (graph-based seamless texture generation), Contour (fullscreen edge detection), and Beam (volumetric lighting and fog). Note that water and sky assets shown in screenshots are not included in this package. Available at: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/terrain/polaris-highland-low-poly-terrain-editor-339980
